Shiso (or perilla) is a plant of the Lamiaceae family, known in Asia for thousands of years, particularly in Japan and China.

The essential or distilled oil extracted from it comes mainly from the leaves of the plant.

It is sometimes called ‘perilla/green shiso essential oil’.

Smell: fresh, herbaceous, tangy, sometimes reminiscent of coriander or ‘green/spicy’ notes.

In perfumery, it is appreciated as a green, almond or spicy note.
